I know everyone is anxious for the "final" Killer Bees schedule. Edd has been working on it every day for the past 3 weeks. He met with Bruce today to bring him up to date. There may still be some changes to the tenative schedule posted at the Killer Bees site. Several of the tracks do not even have their schedules complete and are unable to guarantee dates. Keep checking the site for updates. At our last race we all voted for 2 day races and he is trying to get that for us. Be patient guys. :o
i know there are alot of slant guys up in Nor-cal but there are still us slanters in the southern parts... would like to make more than one race but even sac is pretty out of the way...

i'll just be happy with MATS...

You can say that twice, thats the main reason i didnt race sl6 last year. The racing and comradirie is great fun but the extra several hundred bucks per event plus no price money makes it too hard on the pocketbook.

What happened to Medford? Did they not have an event that coincided with our schedule?

As of today, Medford Drag Strip still does not have a contract with the county to have any drag races this year.

I was wondering that...The Medford area was doing well a couple years back...now that the bond money and other things are gone the area is starting to tighten up it's belt again. I know their school district just cancelled some projects because the maintenance on their new schools is bankrupting their budget...

Too bad, that was a nice track and the managers seemed to be OK folks.
May be next year. Looks like I have 3 possible races close to home this year...

Thanks for the update Bruce, much appreciated. :)

Looking at the Killer Bees schedule, I was hoping to run the Woodburn race in June and August, but apparently, someone has decided that the Saturday Slant Six race will require an additional $20 for a gamblers entry fee.
The Gate fee will be $75 + a $50 pit pass for Linda, $10 Camping fee.
We're up to $135 for fees just to be at the track. Another $20 to enter the slant six race? Foul.
Since the Sunday race conflicts with the Inline Nostalgia series, I won't be on the ladder for slant six on Sunday in June or August's Woodburn events.

This is interesting. We have never run a gamblers bracket on a Saturday and certainly not for a points race. We already paid our dues.
This is going to price many of our racers out. I object because I don't remember being consulted about such an arrangement.

I don't see anything I can support attending with the costs. Slant Six is an entry level racing experience. Why do we need a payout?

I liked Wayne's program, where the Bees used funds to reimburse first time racers entry fees if such funds were available. That made sense. That's where I'd like to see my donation used.

I was toying with the idea of donating $50 per race I was attending to go into a fund such as this, if no new racers showed up then the $50 rolls to the next event. If no new racers showed for the year we roll to the next season and hope more new blood showed up.

$50 pit pass and $10/nt camping sound like the gougers, not so much the entry fees. Yikes.

We have been paying down to 1st round losers at most of our races, so that people get most of their entry fee back. Yes, this is pretty attractive to entry level racers... Not all races, but quite a few only have a net entry of $10-20/day.

Sorry to see the negative comments on the 2012 schedule. Maybe some don't remember that Wayne paid winning racers out of his own pocket!! A $25 fee to killer bees certainly would not be enough to pay back money to winners. One year some of our members sponsored individual races at $500 each. I don't think most are in financial position to do that now. Last year ..many complained about "no payouts". To get payouts...you have to pay in!

PJ is correct. Many of our Eastern racers have and continue to put up prize money, although that has dropped off some. Fundraisers and sponsorships are the other way we get payout money. Hardly any of us do it for payouts, but a few people are attracted by that. I agree that low entry fees is a great way to get people into it.
