Hello All,

I'm finally tearing down my 833. I'm rebuilding my spare because the noise from the one in my car is starting to scare me. As I started to tear down my spare I realized it is in very good shape. I should have probably just stuck it in. Oh well. This is a hobby right? Half the fun is doing something you've never done before. So, at the risk of destroying it. I ripped it apart. I already have a couple of questions.

1. How do I get the bearings off. Can they be removed with a drift and hammer? Should I take it to a shop and use a press.

2. What kind of snap ring pliers do I need. I have a couple of sets but they're all the kind that poke in a little hole. I've looked on the web and don't see anything like what I need.

3. Does anyone know the PN for the extension shaft seal. (It's an early 833 with the output flange).

I'm Sure there will be more questions. Thanks for the EXCELENT article on transmissions. I also have the shop manual, Haynes, and Chiltons. I'm armed to the teeth. No excuses!

I'd have a shop press off the old bearings and press on the new ones.

I got mine from Sears, years ago. I've seen them elsewhere, but I can't remember where. If you find them, you may have to grind the pads a little bit, so they fit right.
