Please install a no start switch of some sort. I have seen many accidents in the staging lanes ,and injuries due to people getting excited or and doing stuff you normally wouldnt do. I had a friends 12 year old got killed in their garage tuning prior to a race .asked the kid to crank it to set timing ,throttle hung wide open and car started in gear,went thru the garage wall. Yes i have driven cars ay the track that start in any gear, but its a very simple fix ,dont take the mentality that this only happens to rookies or idiots. Professional teams lose races every week on simple oversights ,any track that doesnt check this is doing the racers and spectators a great disservice,.

Your right Sergio. Simple fix, and I ordered the plug to install mine. But I still think I view things through the eyes of a guy who primarily drove old manual transmission cars. You just don't reach in and start it without first being in the seat and verifying your in neutral and the Parking brake is hooked.

Also, having this will keep others from messing up in my car if they don't know.

true stories I have raced at several nhra tracks National Raceway, St Louis, Bristol, Atlanta dragway . Not one time I ever had a tech person say put your car in gear and see if it will crank. I did have a tech guy ask me at Hamilton Ohio when I had mybattery in the trunk to crank the car to test the on/off switch on the rear of the car whitch you must have if the battery is in the trunk At the time I was still running a alternator so if you cut the on off switch at the rear it would keep running. But I could hear when the switch was thrown it made a loud click when he did that I just cut the enigne off at the switch in the car. He never did no any difference. But a netural safty switch is a must mine works . Thanks Ron

RT 66 makes you start the car and rev it up when they flip the switch. If the car don't die, you don't race.

Yes, they do.

They do the rev it up because some cars won't excite the alternator at idle and will die if not revved up.

They do a good job out there.

US 41 not so much.

I was actually a little disappointed when the tech guy at US60 didn't even look over his shoulder at the Duster.

I hadn't been down a track in almost 6 years and am a novice at best. I would have appreciated someone supposedly "trained" at what to look for giving it a once over.

No racing this weekend. It's CJ's birthday. I'll try to get out to Ohio Valley next time where I'm told they do a pretty good tech inspection.

I talked to Mike Jeffrey last night and will be getting one of his crank scrapers for the Challenger engine.

He has some in stock still, but he won't be making any more windage trays until the fall (October-ish).

Nice guy and fun to talk to. I brought him up to date on a few happenings... (Team Green's plans to make a come back, Howard Davis' progress on his "Billet" motor, couple other things... )

I also teased him a little bit about going too fast in his Stocker.

He said he wanted to go FAST last year. This year he plans to win rounds.

Tech guy in Vegas didnt look at anything,,,when I questioned him,,he said he would check car and saftey equipment when I had 2 more cyl.He did a double take the next day when he saw my 10.99 dial.Bet he looks next time.Guzzi Mark

You might be glad they didn't tech you a lot closer. There are a lot of areas that you think you might be within the rules, but actually could fail a tech inspection once you go 10.99 or faster if they went by the book. Simple things like the expiration date on your safety equipment, fire jacket, seat belts, etc... There is also a different fire jacket rating you are required to wear if you run nitrous or supercharged classes instead of N/A. Does your helmet have the correct Snell rating? Also, when it comes to ballast, it is supposed to be permanently attached to the vehicle and non-removeable, and there is also a limit to how much you are allowed to have in the car. So, how many violations did you find so far .

Thats great if it will. Just keep in mind that once you go beyond 10.99 the guidelines change considerably for roll cage instead of roll bar requirements and safety related items than when you were going 11.00 and slower. So unless you originally built your car using the 10.99 and faster guidelines you might be surprised it possibly wont pass a thorough tech inspection as you think it will. Some of these events are probably a little more lax than an actual NHRA style event where the tech is more serious, but all another racer has to do is bring something to the attention of a tech official that might be an infraction on your car safety-wise and guess what....your on the trailer. Just be sure since you have now crossed a line where the safety requirements have changed from what you have been used to before you when you were going 11.00 and slower. It also changes again once you get into the 9 second range also.

If the car has a stock floor and unmolested firewall the rule changes at 9.99.

If the car has the floor/firewall cut on it is 10.99.

I am good as is to 10.50,I have read and studied all the NHRA rules.The slant race the following weekend in Sacremento is a NHRA event.
