Did Dodge make a vacuum advance distributor that will replace the lean burn system my 1983 D-150 2 bbl slant six 225 CID motor. Are these easy to find at your local junk yard?

Chances are fairly well that you can find several /6's with various distributors at local yards. They are also availible reman'd from parts stores.

If you have leanburn now I suggest going directly to electronic ignition (vs points). You need the magnetic pickup distributor, the ignition module (or any host of aftermarket replacment boxes such as msd), and ballast resistor (if needed depending on control box and coil your using). The wiring is relatively simple, and a diagram is availible in the articles section of this site for an original mopar box.

Go to your local parts store and ask for a distributor off of a car that came with electronic ignition. I just randomly chose 1975 dart on kragen.com and it shows an A1 Cardone unit availible with and without vacuum advance pod. Ballast and control box should also be availible locally.

Btw, I believe leanburn carbs don't have a ported vacuum outlet so you may need to change carbs.

Pierre is correct, my '84 D-100 carb (a holley 1945) doesn't have a "ported vacuum" port, only a venturi vacuum port (for the EGR Amplifier) and several manifold vacuum ports.

When I look at that lean burn system (aka electronic spark control or electronic fuel control) I still ask "What were they thinking!?"

I have a super six (carter BBD) waiting to go on my '76 Dart, and I think it was off a car with leanburn (the end of the snorkel on the pie tin is round like to accept a hose like leanburn's). Does that mean the carb won't work on my non-leanburn car?

Because of under hood temps in 70's cars most came with a fresh air hose to get cooler air from the outside. (Some had lots of 'plumbing' making underhood air restrictive compared to the early 70's cars...)

A leanburn setup would have a big 'Lean Burn' labelled box attached to the lower half of the air filter can....Your setup is the 'good' non-leanburn setup, with provision for cold intake air after warmup occurs. You should have no problems putting everything together and 'dialing it in'...
