Should I go for the Carter or the Holly set up?

And does anyone have the FULL set up for sale (San Francisco area prefered)

Both these setups are identical except the carb.
In a nutshell,
Holley 2280 carb = better gas mileage, less top end power and acceleration

Carter BBD = slightly worse gas mileage, very common carb, more power, likely to have a worn out throttle shaft (big vacuum leak) and some people find them difficult to keep tuned properly.

I had a holley set up on mine with 2 carbs just in case, and it sucked!!! Found a 2 bbl setup, put it on with a reblt BBD and couldn't get that to run right no matter what I did, so I said screw it! Made the plunge and got the Weber 32/36 and couldn't be happier.
If you have a 1 BBl now, you can easily make the stock linkage work with alittle work. I took the throttle shaft bracket and filed to fit.
Im happy with the weber, and will tell anybody else this thats asks the question.

Do you know if the Holly variety can be re-jetted to a larger jet, for more power/acceleration

I don't know if a holley can be rejetted or not, I think that they could be. It'd be stupid if you couldn't. I paid about 250+ for my set up. You can do a web search for weber carbs and review the hits. Prolinefuel.com is 1, hotrodwebers.com is another. Depending on wht manifold you have, a 1 or 2 bbl, they make adapters[sp?] for the 32/36 carb. If you have a 1 bbl on there now all you need is the adapter plate and the carb, and with a little thinking you can tweek your current linkage to fit with minor adjustments. If you have a 2 bbl manifold on there now all you need is the 1 bbl linkage bracket thats for the lever type throttle linkage and not cable type. Take the 1 bbl throttle lever bracket at the carb and file to fit the weber throttle shaft along with bending the tabs that get in the way of the carb and tweek as nessassary to make fit.

You can change the jets in a Holley. I think (?) any standard holley jet (for a 4bbl) will fit.

The power valves are a little harder to adjust.
