Saturdays winner was Phil Stoneback

Image

Runner -up was Charlie Schmid all the way up from Florida and he brought Steve Adams along to race his green Valiant too!

Sunday winner and candidate for ROY with 72 points already! Frank Funk
Image

Sunday R/U was Will Burns

Here are the elinination results with the points earned. Please note this will be checked for accuracy by the official points counters.
It also does not count the 5 points for records set and I believe Will, Charlie and Lou all may have set some new records. Each would get 5 points for that. Again, send in your record forms to Seymour for verification.

This is the Saturday results

Again, we were treated better than ever at the track. The announcers praised us and talked us up all day. They gave us compliments on our cars and our attitudes and told me personally that we as a group were what is needed in drag racing. I think the are right. We are a small little family whether we like it or not. ( there is a possibility that you may want to get rid of some of the family members but that is for another day)

There was a little confusion as to our start time but once I got that worked out all went well until I drew up the random ladder. It really does work better when you put everyones name in the hat!! So once we worked out that little detail, and with Brian Mimkens help, (thanks Brian) we drew up our revised ladder and got it up to the tower. We had our 17 cars for the first 50 point race here on the East coast in a while. Oh and by the way Brian's car is super sweet! No more "sixy beast" It is a beautiful ride for sure.

Several highlights of the weekend were:
1 Rookie and local Frank Funk winning his first race. This was his first time Drag racing too!
2 Phil Stoneback winning his first race also.
3 Seymour delivering his Race car to Ryan and seeing him run an 11.65 on his first run in the car
4 My wife Patti providing food for the day on Sunday, Thanks wifie!

Special thanks to all who made the trip, especially the long haulers! And thanks to each one who bought a shirt to help support our racing here at Mason Dixon. Thanks to all who donate to the purse out of your own pockets and especially to Track owner Elmer Wachter for the $750 he gave us for the payout. Total purse was about $1600 for the weekend.

In addition to Frank Funk we also had another Rookie racer. Kevin Bradford.

Thanks again to everyone who made this happen!

Rick

Got home about an hour ago. Rick puts on a good race and the track really likes us. Beautiful weather and nary an oil down the whole weekend.

Ryan took to the blue Valiant like a duck to water. Within his first three runs with a trans brake and delay box he was .002 red with the 1.02 delay that I can never beat. On the next run he was .045 red so we added .050 before the race and that put him in the black with an .030. He won his first round and got the bye in the second but the water pump impeller failed and it was too hot to continue racing so we had to give up and we couldn't find the right part to fix it for Sunday. I think this kid has a great future!

Thanks to everyone, especially the Covalts that worked so hard to make it a success. Very reminiscent of some of those great get togethers in Columbus when the Cox Brothers were in their hay day.

My win was definately a case of being lucky instead of good. Round one some wheel spin, Round two Brian still learning about his Duster, round three a broken water pump, round four a new driver(who eliminated me the next day) and round five a NOS bottle run dry. My lights were bad epecially in the bye run. But my wife chose a good weekend to join us.

I can still hear the announcer saying "that little Dart convertable isn't fast but it sure is pretty!".

Thanks to Rick for all your work making this event such a pleaure to attend. It was great to see everyone again and I hope to see you all again in October.

Congrats to Phil, and Frank. This is about my favorite race. I had two goals this weekend (other then winning both days ). Wanted to put the Cuda into the 12's, and break 100 mph. I did break 100, with a 100.62, but couldn't get into the 12's. Best was a 13.140.
Got home about 2:00 pm today.

Steve and his father, had a great time also. They are thinking about doing another slant race. I told them my 66 Valiant is available, if they don't get their 67 Dart ready.
