I have a 65 Valiant wagon that I am converting to a four speed. I have a complete /6 833 drivetrain from a 64 Valiant that should bolt right in. I also have an OD 833 bellhousing and trans from an F body. My question is --- does the z bar length and pivot point match between the aluminum and iron bellhousings?

There are a few different OD Aluminium bellhousings that have different bellcrank mounting bosses, I am not sure if any of them line-up exactly to the early chassis.

Every time I do this swap it seems that I have to oval-out some holes or weld-up a special bracket to get the bellcrank positioned correctly.

some like the the cast Iron bell housing, but the aluminum one does weigh allot less . If you don't want the iron one I'll give you a fair price for it. Bruce Johnson

Yes, the aluminum b/hsg will not line up with the frame pivot on the early bodies.
Yes, you can make a bracket to mount the pivot in the proper position on the later b/hsg.

I used the aluminum bellhousing also. I also ended up trying a couple of different pushrods. The longest one I had seemed to make the best geometry. I ended up making a small dent in the inner finder also.

Another wagon. Cool.
