so i went racing this weekend, the motor was running really good. running good in the pits running good in the staging lanes running great on the run, get through the traps and the oil light comes on stays on the whole trip down the return lane till it get back to the pits. while all this is going on i have a mechanical gauge that is reading 50 psi the whole time and goes up to 55 when i goose it. motor sounds fine if the light never came on i would not have known anything was up. ran it all day with no problems. why is the light on?

Wire came loose and is grounding?

The oil pressure light operates off a "controlled ground" so inspect the wire carefully to be sure it is not grounding out at any point, on it's way to the sending unit.
If the wire checks-out OK, replace the sending unit.
