Should I use a Dremel with a wire brush bit on the ports before I put the new intake/headers on? I'd use a vacuum also. Is this "clean up" worth it?
Also, what direction should my Edelbrock 500 face? Does it matter?
Thanks for your help

It would take a long time with such a small wheel to do the job, and would probably take several wheels to do all the ports....

If your using stock linkage and don't want to do any altering/fabricating, you probably only have one choice as to which way the carb faces.

I got new studs and brass nuts. My question is, do I have to use the cone nuts for the center three studs with the conical washers ? I'd like to use all brass for looks. I am using headers, not stock exhaust.
Thanks :o

i'd say if the manifold has any carbon on it, use the wire wheel, otherwise put it on the way it is... you don't want to open up the intake ports unless you match the gasket to the head also (matching the intake and head to the gasket is best)
