I would ask your machine shop you are going to use, unless you plan on doing it all... (clean up of parts mic ing parts polishing crank etc...)

for gaskets, I used the Fel Pro set that falconglobal sells on e bay,, decent price and they were real good on service,, the kit I got was missing one of the small L seals that go on the rear main. I contacted falconglobal through their e bay account and they overnighted a complete rear main kit out to me.

Rockauto is usually good price wise,, if one of their manufacturers close outs matches your need, you can get a swinging good deal.

for speciality parts, like hardened valve seats, guides...the machine shop will be your best bet

If you are needing a 'full meal deal'...

nothernautoparts.com still sells kits that includes

pistons/rings/waterpump/bearings/freeze plugs/cam/etc...

Keep an eye on shipping charges with Rockauto. They can sting you!

I've never ordered from here but I came across this site while browsing awhile ago. Looks like they sell quite a few kits for slants.

I wouldn't order specific "hard" parts (bearings, rings, etc) until you have the engine out, apart, & inspected. No sense in buying standard size rebuild parts if you have to have the crank turned 10 or 20 undersize & bore the cylinders 30 over. If the rap is a rod bearing, then you likely need another connecting rod as well.

for part shopping,,google can be your best friend.
I made a parts list of everything that I thought I needed.
cup plugs, gaskets, cam bushings, bearings,,pistons, rings..
340 valve springs, if that is want you think you need..then just shopped on internet: the local stores, chain stores, warehouse stores..e bay..
updated the list with prices , be sure to include shipping,,, did not take long to figure out where to buy..

as stated earlier,, wait till the engine is down, apart and checked before buying bearing, rings, pistons...

if you are doing the engine build yourself you will also need the right tools, torque wrenches,...
