Well using the old master and slave cylinder has come back to bite me in the butt. It is leaking or sucking air. It will not go into gear with engine started or putting it into gear and holding clutch down and starting. I need to replace master and slave cylinder and have a question about the lines coming from master to slave cylinder. They appear to be pressed on. I am trying to locate a vendor that sells both units as an assembly but not having much luck. Dorman on Rock Auto site says it sells an assembly but Rock does not stock it. Any suggestions or does anyone have experience with servicing these cylinders and can it be purchased as an assembly?.

Looks to me as if that Dorman CM126864 is going to be your one and only option for a new master cylinder. You'll have to have a hydraulic shop make new lines.

Thanks for your reply Dan. I need to replace both cylinders and the lines just press on. Dorman does sell as an assembly (slave and master w/lines) but I can't find anywhere that sells as an assembly. Looking for suggestions on finding source.

Do you have a Dorman number for the kit? I'm pretty sure the local Carquest here will order anything that Dorman sells.

Did you put new parts in the master and slave? Did the bores of the cylinders look okay? I just tried putting the same parts in my slave cylinder, saved 8 bucks and had to take it all out again. The slave gets the most wear and is most likely your problem, they wear quickly.

I have no idea about the pressed in lines. Another Mopar f'up. Ford has a plastic line in 91 and earlier but it snaps in with a clip. Costs $100 if some idiot cuts the line because they don't know how to get it out. Takes a special tool or some finagaling with a screwdriver.

I don't have part number and no I did not try to rebuild cylinders. Sometimes it is easier to just put new on,although I am still befuddled with hydraulic line attachment.
