I've finally finished swapping to the 8 1/4 rear. In order to shorten my driveshaft, the shop had to convert the front yoke. Fine, no problem.. I gave them all of the Spicer numbers from the A body and Barracuda page, and let them have at it. Everything went smoothly, they did a beautiful job.. I went to install it, and the front yoke was too large for the tailshaft of the '63, the bolt holes had a larger spacing as well. It went back to the shop, we checked the part numbers, ordered two more, both the same.. Tried other part numbers out of a thirty year old Spicer catalog with dimensions, nothing matched. Eventually, they took a yoke from a Jeep Liberty (they think) and turned it in a lathe, and redrilled the four bolt holes to fit. Car is on the road and drives great. I was really patient, it took them forever to get to it, so they did the last part for free, which was really cool. Has anybody else had this problem? I assume you guys have done this before. The shop in question has been a local family owned business in the same location for close to fifty years.. I'm fairly certain they know what they're doing. The first two shots are of the flange called for on the website in relation to the tailshaft flange.
The last two shots are of the modified Jeep unit, they did a nice job, I think.

Yep, GL Dunn. They took forever to get the work done either time, but they're also swamped with work, switching their office to the other side of the building, and trying to keep on top of everything in the process. I understand, we all get busy. They were super apologetic every time I called, and are genuinely nice folk. On a side note, I would like that floorpan from you, whenever is convenient for you..

The trouble is on earlycuda.org's end. They list the incorrect yoke (they call for p/n 2-2-329). The correct p/n is 2-2-349.

SlantSixDan,

I'm assuming that this is chronicled somewhere on this site and I haven't found it? Has anybody contacted them to let them know? Or is this something I might want to do?

Matt
