Hooked it up and gas is shooting out the top of the carb? Any suggestions? I am guessing the float is stuck?

Probably a stuck-open inlet needle/seat. It happens with carburetors that sit on the shelf for a long time.

Well, think it through carefully: you just spent good money to buy a brand new carburetor. Does "GRRR! ARRRGH! HULK SMASH!!!" sound like a wise or helpful thing to do? Does it sound like a legitimate repair procedure? No, it does not. Instead, smack those idiot "mechanics" with the hammer.

Remove the inlet needle/seat from the carburetor, manually unstick it (or replace with new), reinstall.

Those were my thoughts but I also don't want to take apart a NEW carburetor! I have no Idea what is going to happen once I unscrew those screws. Is it as easy as you make it sound? Are there any springs that are going to pop out when I lift the top off?

I also need to fin the right carb inlet adapter. I need a 5/16 male to a 5/16 female. The one that is on the carter is too small for the Carburetor inlet hole. O'reilly auto parts doesn't even show that they stock that part.

Remember, it's new but it's also old. It's been sitting on the shelf for 30-odd years (some of the last 30 years were very odd!).

You don't have to "take apart" the carburetor. Just remove the fuel line from the brass inlet fitting, and remove the brass inlet fitting from the carburetor. It just unscrews. That contains the inlet needle and seat.
Errr...huh? There is no adaptor required. The fuel line stub that screwed into the stock Carter, will also screw into the Holley. It's a 5/16" inverted-flare fitting. You don't re-use the brass inlet fitting from the Carter.

This carb did not come with the fitting. It was missing when i opened the package. The fitting from the carter is too small for the holley. The needle and seat were not with the new carb?

Er...I'm confuzzed. How is it you were able to hook up the fuel line and determine the carb is shooting gas out the top if the carb is missing the inlet fitting?

Do contact the seller. He probably hasn't got a spare inlet fitting and will offer to exchange the carb. Maybe better to get him to refund a portion of the price and go pick up a rebuild kit (or just the inlet needle/seat from www.daytonaparts.com -- a better design than in most rebuild kits).

well.. let me explain. I went and purchased the components for the fuel line mod and when I went to connect them together, the 90 degree angle 5/16 iv flare to barb hose fitting...it fit right in the hole where the OTHER fitting was supposed to be. I didn't even realize until gas was dumping out the top of the carb. I took a few hours of thinking and trying to find another fitting until I decided to get some advice from the experts here at the forum.

Be careful of the seller of these carbs. The seller offered no discount on the product, after I contacted them about the missing parts. They are sending the parts that are missing, but now I have to spend more time to figure out how to put the parts on. Very rude customer service. I was expecting more from a supposedly 100% satisfaction seller. Now has 99.9% customer satisfaction.

Now the Seller didn't like that I was not satisfied, Threw out another insult, Is not sending the replacement part, and refunded the money. What a baby! So.... now I need to find an inlet valve and needle/seat. any suggestions? I already contacted daytona, but no response. Any other parts stores?
