hey all first post on here. i have two old dodges with slant 6s in them and one of them im using as a parts truck for the other. well by the time i get done restoring the other truck, the parts truck will still be mobile and im planning on making it into a sleeper truck :D i wont be able to pull out the motor out of the truck but i can take parts off it and i will be able to take of the front of the truck. i want to make it be able to burn rubber and have a nice lope to it. also i dont really have the money to get it machined except for maybe the head. but i should be able to get good street perfomance parts for it... just not sure what to get any help is appreciated. thanks in advance :)

Welcome!

Most folks on this board will give you the same advice: Set your goals carefully, including how "drivable" you want the vehicle to be, how often you want to drive it, and on what kind of roads.

Is this vehicle primarily:
- a daily driver?
- a Saturday night cruiser?

Slants are great engines, but they don't necessarily respond to performance mods the way V8's do. The slant is much more "fussy", if you will. You can throw lots of money at it (and many have) and still not get the results you wanted, unless you have planned it carefully.

The fact that you are on a tight budget makes everything I just wrote twice as important!

So... slow down a minute, write down your well thought out goals, and then you'll get a bunch of fellows glad to help you out!

(PS: Don't forget to do all the important safety stuff first... brake upgrades, seat belts, etc.)

- Mac
