I crunched the numbers, just for the hell of it. In order to get 300 C.I.D. out of a 225 without changing the stroke, you'd need to have 3.928" bore, or bored 0.528" over.

With the 4.00" center spacing of the Slant 6, that would be... problematic.

Since we are working with the "dream wheel"...

I have successfully stroked a SL6 crank to produce a 4.5 inch stroke.
I have "relined" a SL6 block to allow a bore of 3.750 ( .125 cylinder wall thickness, where the barrels touch each other, front-to-back)
Never built and tested that block but it does have big barrels in it. (and no water jackets)

So 3.75 bore with a 4.5 stroke = 298 ci
Bore it .020 over (3.770) and get 301 cubes.
I can honestly say that that is about the limit when using the current SL6 block design and bore spacing.

It will be awhile....
The block needs some serious machining to get the main line and the cam bore straight... then cylinder finish bore and piston selection.
Then build the engine.
It's just "time & money"... but I'm currently a bit short on both!

Charles built a big bore slant. From what I remember, it's still running.

I'm not sure if he went quite that big. Might have been 3.750, but we'd have to call and ask him.

I went to look at this car, today. The engine would not turn over with a breaker bar. Been sitting for awhile. It has Mopar Performance pistons(cast), Couldn't see the engine numbers on the "pad", but think it is a cast crank motor. High volume oil pump, mopar mild "243" cam, springs lifters, timing set. Offie intake, 390 Holley VS. Did have headers but the rotted out, and were replaced by the stock exhaust manifold. He did have a whole stack of reciepts, for MP parts. Car itself is trashed. I made him an offer. He said he would think about it.
I could use the Disc brake parts, and 4 Speed OD in my 64 Valiant 4 dr. The engine would be an unknown factor, also the 7 1/4 rear is unknown as to ratio or SG. We shall see, what happens.
