My '66 crank is in the queue at the machine shop so I'm thinking it might be a good idea to have the rear hub bore machined to the larger '68+ size now. The plan is to put the engine back in front of the existing manual trans until that gets old, then swap it out for a '68/later 904/A500 trans. Is this the smart thing to do? If so, what dimension should I have the pilot bore machined to for the '68+ converters? If I had more time I would hold off and find a later forged crank but I need to keep this moving and want to avoid the "I could'a should'a" syndrome. TIA

Yes, I would do it now. The size is right around 1.815", but I can't recall if that's the converter hub dimension OD or the crank hole ID. I believe it is the crank ID, but better double check that.

Thanks Lou, I will add it to the list. If you or anyone else could confirm the crank bore dimension for the '68+ converter fitment I would appreciate it.
