Ok I am new here and in need of a little help. Just got a 74 dodge dart swinger w/225 /6 and I just put a new holley single barrel 1945 carb as car did not have on installed. Well she starts but runs very low and rough idle.3 Plus I have no idea were vacuum lines go

Hop up in the Engine FAQ and look for the carburetor specific stuff. It's all in there! :D

Welcome to dot org!

What exactly did you mean by new carbutetor? NOS? If it's a reman/rebuilt, by whom? Remans don't have a stellar rep, though there are some that are better than others.

One of the items you will find extremely useful is a Factory Service Manual. (FSM) This is not to be confused with a Chiltons or Haynes manual. (The aftermarket manuals generally have bits included from the FSM, but don't go into detail concerning some of the more complicated evolutions.) Generally the Chiltons or Haynes is most useful for wiping oil up off the driveway. They do have a vacuum diagram in them though.

Ok I will have to look for a factory service manual, and it was a rebuild from rockauto. I really don't think it is the can so much as the vacuum lines since I have no clue where any of them go or which on I can simply delete. I am also sure the timing needs to be adjusted but I have not messed with it until I get carb figured out. Then once it's all complete I am either going to get brave and try to adjust lashings myself or find someone local that can.

If one or more vacuum hoses are disconnected you will definitely have driveability issues! Read the FAQ at the top of this forum, get a REAL factory service manual and correct the vacuum hose issue (replace any of them that are stiff or cracked). Someone posted this on another forum.

Note it's a California version, but maybe it'll help. I hope so!

that will work, but he'll remove the blue air pump diverter line, the manifold source will go directly to the amplifier, he'll have no reservoir as well. He can also cut out the OSAC valve and run that port directly to the distributor...everything else is just like the 1973-1976 Federal Cars.
