Now how would I go about doing a band adjustment on my '62 904? I tried adjusting my kickdown but the shifts still come pretty soon(I'm in 3rd half way through an intersection), what should i do? I realize that the tranny probably needs a rebuild, but i'm lackin' the $$$ to do so. Any help or ideas would be great.

Best thing to do is get a factory service manual (on CD maybe?). There are detailed diagrams and instructions there. You need to pull the pan to get at the low-reverse band. I'm not sure how much this will affect shift timing though. Make sure the kickdown lever goes all the way toward the rear of the car when you're at WOT.

In 3rd before you are thru an intersection.... sounds like kickdown linkage more than a band problem... like it isn't even connected....

Yeah, I thought it was a kickdown problem to but I adjusted it(it still wont kick down)and to no avail. Oh and when it shifts into 3rd it kinda revs alil then goes into gear. I don't have the means to get a manual right now so some basic insructions would really help. Thanks.
