HEY i got lola back, but i need some pretty quick advice...

this morning she started up ragged, i had to get my kid to school and get my bikes from my old house. when i revved her after some warm-up she didn't do her normal drop, i figured maybe still chilly. another few minutes, took off, got about 4 blocks and thank god she died before i turned onto 82nd.

anyway so i smelled gas bad, thought maybe out of gas, but pulled the air filter to check out the carb and holy mother was she pouring gas out of the carb!!! stuck wide open!!! carb just filled with gas. so i waited, let the gas stop, dry out, tried to turn her again and just more gas. at this point i had some guy jimmying the carb and he got it to move again, but still no start.

we pushed her back a couple blocks and she's ok for the day but we're at a location where i do not feel safe leaving her on the street away from the house, i can't afford new battery, i can just see the tweekers stripping her down as fast as they can.

OK GUYS WHAT NOW???? :)

apparently she had a bit of dirt or something stuck in there, i went up the street to the guy who has a ton of old trucks out front and he walked down and helped me get her fired up, so she should be right as rain, till the next time. stay tuned.

<3 <3 <3

i love my car. :)

well at least you got lola gong again. Worst case see if that yard up in oregon has a supersix intake and then when I get home ill send you the carb off my truck when I switch to a holley. Thats all Ive got for now, Though I may have some old one barrell carbs from my chevy 235, not sure they will even bolt but Ill look either way. Keep us posted.

Start by servicing or replace the needle valve, in the carb.
If that does not do it, time to rebuild the card with close attention to the float(s)

carb was last rebuilt by majhor murray's.

i swung by there this morning to say howdy and ask about the gas tank leak, since i had a new tank put in her and they did the work/fuel line flush. the tank came with all the seals and gaskets, there should not have been a prob but apparently she did it with ray as well. however, she wasn't doing it when i sold her... right after the tank went in.

also lucky me, the damned reverse button (push button tranny) dropped into the instrument panel (first time with that for me, ray said it never happened with him so i am just lucky!) and i could get the damn panel off if i didn't have a totally stripped screw head holding it on. so, no reverse. note to self: no matter how hot it gets outside, do not wear a mini skirt next time i take her out, i do end up having to push.

there's a fierce grumbling on the right passenger (front) wheel well, it was a dull roar when i sold her but now it's just....ouch...i sincerely hope serious damage was not done. it's that bad. ray replaced the right rear motor mount and i had had a wildcat MM put in the front right side, ray was thinking it was a mm but i don't think so. any thoughts/input on that would be super helpful. also, robert my neighbor said i had a broken mm (UUUUUUUUGH).

anyhoo, it's going to be a while before i can do much more than replace her fuel and air filters. MM's wants $100 to roll onto the lot and they are slammed with work. but there is no way i am going to let just any jackass 'troubleshoot' for me. you know what i mean.

oh we also adjusted the idle, i knew that was a prob....haha a neighbor came by earlier before i headed out to the first lovely adventure with the carb this morning and the neighbor was all, 'oh you gots some bad piston...' dude no i do not, my engine is bomb, it was the damn butterfly valve stuck open.

anyway! always forward, never straight!!!! :) that's my story and i'm sticking to it! :P

good to be back, ya'll.

If Ed has one, she won't be able to afford it...and she's a long drive to Hermiston to the east for the next publicly available one. FYI.

kxracer. I am running the carter bbd that came on it. It was horrible when I got it so it was sonic cleaned etc. (see build thread) and the milage is hard to note since the trip back from Va was w 31" tires, throws off my speedo and milage a bit. I have since switched tires and dont know how close they are to factory specs. that and Ive been deployed too long to remember what numbers I had before. As for "IF" it the way to go, heck yes! Id recommend it. From memory I wasnt doing bad for milage and thats switching from FI toyota 22RE to carb slant 6.

D.I.-

Thats a shame that it would cost that much for a super six intake. I was lucky in the fact that Peter had the setup but never installed it, so I drove the 2.5 hrs back up there to get it just in case. Guess Ill start keeping my eyes peeled for intakes and pick them up incase others here in the .org want them.

hey dan, question for you, i also have the push button tranny and my reverse button fell off in there...i managed to get the stripped bolt out to remove the panel but now i can't get the wiper button off.

how do i remove the wiper knob?

then it looks like once i get in there i am going to need to take off another layer of panel.

any advice on fixing that button before i rip it all apart? after, of course, i get the wiper knob removed.

the wiper knob! I imagine there is some "special" tool (as with every weird thing on these cars!). I just made a tool out of a piece of conduit(metal), it works for the ignition too. This is my first Mopar car, I come from the land of GM.(where everything is the same and all parts crossover! Ha! )

i've seen it taken apart before, you have to be suuuper careful with the buttons when you put it back on. you should know that if you ever have to get in there.

at this point i have a very strict criteria for where i can park, thank goodness this is portland, land of parking. even so. i've just been parking in spots where i can pull in and roll back, haha!

mopar has plenty of parts it can use from other vehicles. the best thing is, it doesn't really have that many parts in the first place. this is close to our house, and i was told it was the best place to get real mopar parts for mopar classics: http://www.yelp.com/biz/foster-auto-parts-portland-3 none of that chinese crap. does anyone have feedback on FAP to back that up?
