Hello,
I Bought a Wilwood Dynalite rear drag Kit for Ruster and Got it installed this weekend. I also reset the Pinion Depth on the 4.56's and reinstalled them.
Here are some comparisons between the Weight of the Factory Drums & associated Parts, including Parking Brake and bracketery, to the Wilwood kit which has no Provisions for a parking Brake.
Here are Some Of the Drum Parts that had been removed:
That Box of parts was 9.044#
Then The Backing Plates; They Weighed 6.360# for one and the other was 6.392#.
Then The 4 Brake Shoes..
They Weighed 6.300#
All of the Non Rotating parts removed total was 28.096#
I had weighed the Drums at an earlier date and Marked the Weights of each one on the inside of the drum;
They weighed 9.770# and 10.264#, for a total of 20.034# of rotating Mass on the Rear Drum Setup.
The Total Rear Drum and Parking Brake setup was 48.13#.
Now for what replaced it:
The Wilwood kit has Aluminum rotor hats and A Drilled Rotor that weighs in at 6.280# per Side.
That's a total of 12.560# of Rotating Mass for the Rotor Kit versus 20.034# for the drums. That Means 7.474# Less Rotating Mass with the rotors! YAY.
Here is the Rest of the Kit; all of the stationary pieces:
The Hose, caliper, 2 adapters, Pads and Caliper Mount/ Axle retainer weighed in at 5.078# Per Side for a total of 10.156# as opposed to 28.096# of Non Rotating Mass for the Drum Setup.
Drum Setup Total Weight: 48.13#
Disc Setup Total Weight: 22.716#
Ruster Lost: 25.414# YAY!
Here is what the Kit looks Like installed:
So with Loosing 25.414# Ruster Will be lighter - But what is the total weight now?
We have to look all the way back to January 28, 2013 to see:

At Last Check Ruster was 2184.1#
Take out 25.414#
That Leaves us at 2158.7#
I am pretty Close to the bottom of B gas slat class with driver Now..
at 2377.5#
I will try to Hit test n tune this week at pittsburgh to see if i can get back into the 11's with these changes, at a higher altitude track.
