Hi guys,just wondering what you think of this grind in a very mild/ stock 225 build..... I already have this cam and am tossing up whether to use it or regrind it using one of the more popular comp 252 or erson rv10 grinds.thanks again!
It's a crane grind,stamped F-198/270-12.
The card states;
Timing at .050" is,
Intake opens 8 atdc,closes 26abdc,max lift 107 atdc
Exhaust opens 36 bbdc,closes 18btdc, max lift 117 btdc
Cam timing at .014" lift is 19/61 intake,63/17 exhaust
Cam lift is.270" at lobe,.405" at valve
Lash is .022" intake,.024" exhaust
Duration at .200" tappet lift is 102'
The engine is a 2barrel,stock exhaust manifold,HEI ignition,will aim for a 8.2 dcr,street duty only,66valiant,stock converter,3.23 rear end.many thanks

If you had a good, stock, '71+ mechanical cam this would be a downgrade. Duration is too short, lobe centers are too wide and the lift is just average. I'd take the RV-10 over this in a heartbeat.

I find it hard to believe Crane even bothered to make such a grind. The "F" series cams were a step up from the "S" series. I have, what I thought was, the mildest cam Crane made for the slant six, the S-264.
That cam has 264 adv dur, 222 at .050, and 434 lift.

Thanks so much for the replies guys,much appreciated.I had my doubts about using it,but I thought it was worth asking your opinions.....hopefully it's a good candidate for a regrind....... Or a piece of workshop art....I guess my options are Ersons,Comp,OCG or Delta for Agressive Teds regrind...Has anyone dealt with Ersons lately? I read they moved to Kentucky and have new staff,is their quality still good? The Comp grind is easy to buy,but do they still have issues with the oil pump gear being poorly machined?

Im running the comp cam with a .440 lift and 264 duration. I have a holley 390 4bbl and the engine purrs at 400 rpm in gear.

Sounds like a great grind for a stationary engine. Perhaps an agricultural engine that lives at 1600 rpm PTO speed all the time.

Well,it's is for my folks restored 66 VC Valiant...... But 1600 rpm duty is just a bit too tame even for them! I'll send it off to see if its a good candidate for a regrind since its a new billet,pretty sure someone over here will have the comp profiles....failing that I could use it for a paint stirring stick...
I paid to have an engine "rebuilt" for them by some self proclaimed Mopar gurus while I was living interstate......to sort of say thanks for letting me keep all my stuff in their garage for all those years.Unfortunately it turned out to be a major disappointment. It will be the first and last engine I will ever have someone else build.I have a good spare engine that I'm working on building up and will swap it over to make things right,it will be interesting to strip the present engine down to see exactly whats in it.
I guess I'm being particularly fussy for a mild/stock build but I want to really get a great build for them,the car has always been in the family and is really a head turner......plus it's nice to have a little more performance when I drive it! :lol:

Those specs almost sound like a hydraulic cam.
