72 Dart Swinger 225ci automatic/air

God bless this forum! I was thrilled to find it. Trying to finish a 2 year restore and don't have any vacuum behind the dash, thus none of my linkages controlling my heat, defroster, etc. are working. I can manually control the linkages and all air is blowing in the right places. I have vacuum to the distributor, carb, etc, and the engine is running great. My shop manual doesn't provide a diagram of this system. Where can I find one? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks......Gary

Sounds like the vacuum hose isn't hooked up to the vacuum tap on the #6 runner. There should be a little plastic hose with a rubber nipple on it on the firewall, close to the wiper motor. This should be hooked up to the vacuum tee on the #6 intake runner. This little hoise supplies vacuum to the underdash heater and a/c doors. Or your control head might be bad.

Is this the line you mean? If so, I am confused because it is actually 2 lines coming thru the firewall. Pictured, you can also see the vacuum connection plugged off on what I think you are calling the #6 runner (intake?). Is this the right lines? Thanks alot.....Gary

That thing plugged off on the intake manifold is the vacuum tap. Those rubber hoses might be what I am talking about. Where do they go? If they don't go anywhere right now try hooking them up and see what happens. I would guess that one powers the underdash A/C stuff and the other actuates the water shutoff valve when the a/c is turned on.

Whats that one hose in the picture that stops right above the intake manifold?

That line is coming from what looks to be some type of vacuum cannister. There is another cannister on the passenger side of the radiator which has 3-4 lines going to it. I plan to pick up some fittings today to start connecting some lines to see what happens under the dash. I'll post results. Thanks much......Gary

The cannister on the passenger side of the radiator with three hoses going into it is the charcoal cannister. This does not affect the A/C system. The line which supplies vacuum to the A/C doors should be rather small, about 1/4 inch inner diameter tops. The other cannister may be part of the EGR valve vacuum amplifier system.
