Hello,

I just purchased (from Rock Auto) and installed a Holley 1920 on my '69 A100 Van, slant six and it starts great and runs pretty good, a little rough on acceleration but it idles nicely.
The problem is I was smelling gas fumes and searched for leaks - there are none I could find - but as I was searching (with the motor off) I noticed the bowl vent valve all of a sudden open and spurt gas. The vent should have been open until the gas pedal is depressed, correct? So why would it have been closed?
Has a new gas filter.
Any ideas why this would happen and how to fix it would be appreciated!
Raymond

There is a bowl vent adjustment procedure......is it a hard linkage to throttle or does it go through choke linkage? Im not at home to look..

I believe it's a hard linkage to throttle, has an automatic choke.

I'd bet that your answer can be found here . OHHH, we're bad about sending newbies back to the source.

Sometimes reminds me of sending new swabbies looking for the golden rivet in the keel of the ship. FYI there is no golden rivet, but the link will lead ya to your answer.

You got me, bro. I must have given my last example to SGbarracuda over on FABO. IF it snapped open or closed, it may have been the choke spring letting go.
