So I have a 64 Valiant with the 7 1/4 in it. I also have a spare rear from 1970 Duster, both are 3.23 gear and 9 inch drum rears. Do they have any differences? I've heard the 73 and ups have bigger bearings I have a set of 3.55 out of 64 7 1/4 and a late 60's sure grip for a 7 1/4 I would like to use. Just seeing which one put my parts in. The car is a stock slant six, 4 spd daily driver. So no drag strip launches. So it "should" live.

The '73+ rears with the big bolt pattern have bigger wheel bearings in them, but I believe the guts are the same.

Not sure what year they changed, but the early suregrips were clutch type and the later ones were cone type. The clutch type are more desirable because they have 4 spider gears (stronger) and the cone type only have two spiders.
