Has anyone here used Hooker Super Comp headers? I notice the mounting flange on the headers is 3/8" and the mounting flange on the Cliffy ( and the stock intake) is 1/2". Should I grind the intake down or find some way to space the headers up? What did you do?

Some people tack weld a spacer to the header flange to make it even with the intake flange.

Weld a 1/4" nut in each place the washers seat.

My original headers (1972) came with a set of 1/4" thick washers ground off to make them "C" shaped. These were installed on the mounting studs, on the exhaust flange side, making intake and exhaust flange heights equal. OEM triangle washers were installed over these.
