I need some suggestions.
I have a /6 225 and I am looking to do the exhaust. I realize that you cannot make a six cylinder sound like a V8, But I want it to sound like it has some power behind it. Right now mine sounds like a cross between a Diesel and a 4 Banger. Throw out anything that you have experienced that you believe sounded good. Thanks, Kyle

P.S. - I want to keep the Stock Headers and single pipe system.

For the stock manifold I have used, and been rather happy with, a full 2 1/4" system using a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. You get the cool straight-six sound without excessive noise.

If you want to install the system yourself and/or don't have a good custom exhaust shop you can buy the Accurate ltd. system with the HP option. You'll want to ask what muffler they include. It may be the Dynomax, but might be something quieter.

I ran a new exhaust system on my 225 last year.

2 inch pipe from the manifold to under the floorpans, into a 22" glasspack. Then ran a few feet of 1 3/4", tapered to 1 1/2" over the rearend, and finally ended with 1 1/4" tailpipe.

I also have a straight six maverick. 2.5" pipe into a y pipe, branching into (2) 12" glasspacks, ran to the sides. All 2.5" gives a more hollow sound until revved.

This sounds amazing on your truck! What kind of glasspack did you buy?

I have the stock 2 1/4" into a thrush turbo muffler out into the stock 2" tail section. Sounds decent, but still has a "restricted" sound to it so I plan on upping it to 2.5" or at least just finishing out with 2 1/4".... Put an open element air cleaner on it too wich added some pretty cool engine noise to go with it

The key with a smaller engine is to taper the exhaust pipe down in size, giving you good back pressure and a better sound in my opinion.

Do the same thing to a V8 and you get the old school crackle and pop.

Like I said, I put the glasspack right at my feet so the rest of the pipe could be what builds up pressure.

Couldn't quite find one for 22". Found a 27" with 22" Baffles, Is that the right one?
