Hi guys. New to the group but have stalked for a while.
I have an 83 d150.

I got ahold of a clifford intake with the 2barrel adapter plate and a holley 2280 carb.
Went to put it together and it doesn't mate up.... anybody know if that normal?
Adapter is labeled A-0452.

Also just scored a 76 aspen with 62k. Does that engine have the correct distributor to convert to hei?

One more question. Is there anything else that will fit my truck that I can scavange off the aspen?

Looking for a drivers side spindle for the d150 too. Cant seem to locate one.

Thanks in advance - Mike

If the 2 barrel flange on your Clifford adapter is bigger than your holley you have now, it is for the bigger holley, as in, 2300 series.

My local NAPA sells an adapter kit that converts from a 4 barrel flange, to the large 2 barrel (I'm guessing your adapter is similar) and then down to the smaller 2 barrel. (like your 2280)

Does the Aspen you just bought have a supersix intake? That would be my preference of intakes for what you want, as it will still have exhaust heat, which is a VERY good thing when it comes to economy and driveability (some Cliffords have this, I believe, but if yours does it is quite rare, and I would still pick the supersix)

The Aspen distributor should work, as it shouldn't be lean burn junk unless someone has swapped it already.

Thanks. I just ordered the adapter... $18.00.
I'm glad. I thought it was gonna be a lot more.

The Aspen distributor would be a good start if your current distributor is one of the ESC distrbutors and uses the computer on the air cleaner.

Post the part number if it still has it's original tag on it, I might be able to give you a couple of pointers on the recurve.

The clifford intake wont' fit with the stock exhaust manifold, so either a) you have to get headers, or b) you need to cut down the heat riser and plate it off to clear the intake manifold, then use their heat box on it.

note that the Clifford manifold has a larger plenum to it, and the Carter BBD or Holley 2280 will have to be readjusted to compensate since they are used stock on a small plenum super six plenum....if you can't calibrate one to work correctly...start looking around for a Holley 2300 0-7448 350 cfm or a Holley 390 cfm 0-8007 carb..

good luck,

-D.Idiot

It turns out that the aspen is a 1978 not a 76. I'm pretty sure it has the ealier version of the lean burn computer. I don't know if that distributor is the same as the one i have on my 83 (that has the computer on rhe air cleaner) or if I need to find another one...?
I will look for numbers today.

What do u mean by recalibrating the carb to work?

Thanx Mike

The Aspen should have the mopar EI system not an ESC system (the ESC system will have a big box on the side of the aircleaner with a vacuum line attached to it, EI should have a small box on the wall with a plug of about 4-5 wires attached to it using a screw.)... You will need the distributor, wiring harness, and EI module to complete the conversion on your truck. If the Aspen has a super six 2 barrel, that would be a nice upgrade to your truck as well.

Since the carb was originally set up for a certain intake manifold, and possibly for a car instead of a heavy truck, you may need to adjust the metering rods, and other linkage and settings to get it to work correctly with your 4 barrel intake.
