The black would be the Nitriting (the hard surface put on new cams)

Man I feel bad for you....I have yet to spend over $1500 for rebuilding a slant with the cam and rebuild kit....and get plenty of power and mpg.

Sadly, Clifford in the past when Jack was alive was a good business, the reason they are still around is people don't research their build and buy the name only to get the lack of quality...

I seem to remember somewhere Doc had posted a thread here where a person had installed a similar kit that went to pieces at the show he was at, but was able to fix it with some handy mechanical valve train parts so the guy could keep motoring.

Make sure you get components that work together...note that cliffords 4 barrel intake was meant to work with their headers and will not bolt up to the stock exhaust manifold (if you want this feature you need an offenhauser intake).

The other thing that Clifford won't give you is a distributor recurve to fit your upgrade, and they aren't qualified to do it, so make sure you read up on the articles, there is lots of power and economy waiting when you match the timing to the engine build.

Alaskanmopar, you sound bound and determined to keep and use parts that you've been warned are probably not going to work well for you, from a vendor you've been warned is a notorious BS artist and scammer.

I'm just kinda curious to learn your line of thinking. You're wanting and hoping to do this engine build twice, first the wrong way and then the right way, or…???
