Hello, my 3 groove harmonic balancer is total toast. Can't seem to find one anywhere - can find single groove pulleys but need a double or triple groove as I have power steering. Does anybody know where to get one of these or have a good one?

Most slant six balancers were single groove and six threaded holes. The power steering pulley bolted on the front with 3 of the holes, and the slightly wider a/c pulley in back with the other 3 holes. You can't mix the holes up because each pattern is on a different diameter.

There are balancers that had multiple grooves but I thought those were limited to industrial applications (forklift, etc). Clean the crud off the face and rear of yours, hopefully you'll see some screw heads. If you do, you'll be able to remove and swap pulleys onto a new single groove unit.

They say 74-77 . . . . Dodge says something totally different and shows me a balancer that doesn't look anything like what is in the truck. Anybody know about interchangability with this one?

Lately I have seen them on the cast crank late model truck engines in the HD packages (Typically in a D-150 with the cast crank and a manual transmission/NP-435). I suspect that the idea was the heavier balancer would negate some of the shock that the lighter crank wouldn't absorb, and also negate some of the torture that a clutch driven vehicle would put on the (heavy brick, big flywheel, boat anchor transmission...run it up to 3-4 K and dump the clutch to get it moving and the same for each shift...especially if hauling a 3/4 ton bed full of gravel...)

I have a couple of long blocks in storage out of an '82 and an '83 with this style damper...

If you can't get one off e-bay, and your damper is fairly intact you can also look at Damper Doctors and Damper Dudes on the web to rebuild it (more expensive than the E-bay one)...note that there is a generational issue on the damper timing mark since timing covers after 1979 used the style that uses the probe tube and tab that counts to 30. vs the numbered tab that is +/- 10-12 degrees.... you will have to determine and mark the timing cover tab with a new TDC mark (white paint) if using the 1977-1978 damper and the late timing cover.

I put that exact damper from that linked vendor (from whom I've been buying for a couple of decades) on my '73 Dart's original engine. Worked great. Got one on the aluminum 225 in my '62 Lancer, too.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.

I have already purchased that ebay dampener as it appears to be the correct one. Will find out on Monday. Yep, got a W150 and it's got the NP435 transmission. Just didn't know if that one fit - it sure looked like the old one - but the Dodge dealer gave me totally different part numbers which appear to be unobtainable. From what I hear I got the right one. Woopie and thanks everybody for the info.
