thinking of installing clifford headers on my 77 volare 2 dr w supersix.Otherwise stock. What do you think the outcome would be?performance gain? Or will I lose any low end power? Waste of time and money or do I get the green light from all my /6 buddies ??

I went from a stock exhaust manifold / exhaust system to clifford dual headers joined in a y pipe to a dynomax superturbo muffler with 2 1/4" pipe throughout. I sure noticed a difference....

Word to the wise about headers though, they will make working in the engine bay a bit more of a challenge because you have to be careful not to scratch them. Also, your carb/efi/fuelsystem must be in good tune because running too rich or lean will cause excessive exhaust gas temps and roast the coating on them. If I were to do this all over again I would shoot for dutra duals or dual duals instead. Lots less hassle/headache. If I ever get the cash together I'll get rid of my clifford headers and go for dual duals.

Dual duals are where you use Doug's front casting for the rear as well instead of a modified stock manifold. I believe pictures of this are detailed in his article (located in the articles link off of slantsix.org)

Dutra Duals sound great, but I don't have the money for them. Hopefully by the time I get my engine running well enough to make the cost of the Duals worth it they'll still be around, right now forking over the money required makes no sense when I have things like throttle issues to figure out(and the stupid carb has been played with).

Johnny, love the attitude ;) But every nut and bolt that you do wrench on will be a bit more tedious to deal with.

Btw, your handle wouldn't happen to be influenced by the robot Johnny 5, would it?
