Is there a "correct" -62 Valiant (200 4d sedan) driver's side door mirror? It was not standard equipment, I think. Does anyone have pictures of what it should look like?

As always any help is greatly appreciated...

Maurice

A variety of different mirrors were offered by Chrysler for optional installation at the factory or by the dealer. All of them were round. Some dealers bought aftermarket mirrors, some of which were round and some rectangular or oblong.

I had to take my round one off of the wife's car. Maybe factory installed? If I remember when I get back to the shop I could probably dig it out and take a pic.

The most common one I see is called the "2 Post" or "twin post" mirror.
Below is a link to some photos & info.

Thank you all once again for all your valuable answers and help.

A "correct" one would have made things easier (I am bad at making decisions) but at least I now know. Round sounds good and two-post mirror looks oh so nice and familiar (I have that on my 65 valiant).

There was no mirror on the car (-62 Valiant 200 4d sedan) when I bought it. There are 3 holes for attaching it though. I did buy some parts from a 62 Signet some time ago and among them there was also the mirror. To me it looks a bit strange though. Here are some pictures if I succeed in inputting them here:

The "foot" is very small and the back side a bit strange. Any comments (if you can see them).

That is definitely not a Chrysler-supplied mirror. The 2-post type is indeed common.

That is the same one that came off the wife's car.

Thanks, if the 2-post is indeed that common in -62 too, I think I'll look for one. I've always liked it.
