A "slick shift" A833 has the syncros modifed for faster shifting. The modifcation is removing every other tooth from the syncros. For a all out ham fisted drag racer this may be desirable, but for a daily driven car it is not.

jamie's kit is meant to used on the street. i installed one in my 4-spped but i havent got to fully test at the track. it seemed to make smoother gear changes though. wasnt a slick -shifted tranny supposed to be able to be shifted with out using the clutch? im not sure if this is what jamie had in mind. call him and find out though.

A slick shift trans still needs the clutch, mainly to get the trans out of the gear you are shifting out of. When the gears have a load on them, it's hard to get them out of gear unless the power is killed, either with the clutch or lifting off the throttle.
The benefit of the slick shift is, with every other tooth off the syncros, it lessens the chance of the teeth butting against each other during the upshift. A true clutchless trans do not have syncros and the gears are designed for clutchless shifting, normally they are a dog face style.
