I'm going to rebuild my slant 6 (76 225 in a volare) and I want to replace the original 1 bbl with either a single 4 bbl or ordering from Clifford the dual Weber carb kit with headers. Any feedback will be appreciated.

You might want to try dual 2bbl 32/34 DFT Webers (for 1.8 or 1.9L Ford Escort) from Tom Langdon, $90 a piece new, and an Offenhauser dual carb intake milled for the Webers. With the linkage kit, a Lokar kickdown cable, fuel pressure regulator and some custom (but simple) fabrication you can build your own for ~$500. The Clifford set up is $1700.

One note, I eventually built a heat shield as heat was an issue for me. I have the dimensions for the heat shield as well.

Be very careful before you decide to spend any money with Clifford. They have a long and ugly reputation for being a bunch of clowns; see for example here, here, here, here, and here. Much of what they sell is inaccurately described, and a lot of it is not even slightly cost-effective. The good news is that you don't need to go to Clifford to get hot rod parts for slant-6s; there are lots of other, better options. See for example Dutra Duals and header options discussed in this thread and this one, Erson custom cams, HEI ignition upgrade, Mike Jeffreys windage trays, Hurricane intakes, other exotic intakes. SlantSixDan is one of the guru's of this site. You can't go wrong taking his advice. The guys on this board have been building/driving/racing/living SL6's for decades. If he says be wary of Clifford, I would heed his advice....

Thanks guys for the info. I like the way the 2 carb setup looks. I'm trying to make this car practical for driving along with something thats not seen around to often at the local car shows. I really don't want to spend the money on a clifford setup but would you recommend 2 1bbl carbs or 2 2bbl carbs?

One 2bbl. Which one to run depends on how much zip you want. You could swap on a factory "Super Six" setup, those work well. Or you could do a bit of extra work and swap on a Motorcraft 2100, those work really well. And I'm not just saying that because I have a custom aluminum intake manifold and brand-new 2100 carb where I'd rather have shelf space, because I also have a bunch of Super Six intakes and at least one complete kickdown setup where I'd rather have shelf space.

Make sure the 2 x 2bbl will fit! My truck will require me to put in a newer offset wiper motor when I finally get the 2x 2bbl Carter/Webers worked out- you may be getting near the firewall or brake booster or such with a car. Check the fitup of the intake manifold to the exhaust manifold - the runners where they meet the head have to be on the same plane with room to move back and forth a tiny bit. Snug everything up and check for fit - right down to the carb. Better to find out you have fitup problems now - you may not see then when you install the parts to the engine.
