Are there any resources for narrowing axle housings in Oregon or Washington? Dutchman is no longer in Oregon.

I have a Ford Explorer 8.8 that wants to fit under a Lancer.

Cheers,
Barnaby

I have no shop recommendations, but I DO have a factory a body 8 1/4 axle housing with both styles of carrier for sale. It has ben fully rebuilt with new bearings, but the ten inch drum brakes need to be rebuilt. There are no gears, so it is a blank canvas for your work. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks Reed and Richard! I considered inquiring about your 8.25, but the Sure Grip, discs and deep gears would be expensive. But that is a great deal for an 8.25.

And it looks like I'm calling Idaho if there is nothing closer...

Cheers,
Barnaby

A serious 4x4 shop should be able to narrow an axle.

Wildcat had someone they recommended awhile back. Might be worth giving them a call.

Thanks for the feed back. I made quite a few calls and finally found a shop that took the job. $150 to shorten one side.
