Ordered new radiator and trans cooler and engine gasket set for Summit.
Dutra manifold on its way as well.
Head should be here soon.

I am removing bottom support of the radiator to straighten it as it has a big dent that bent the old radiator. I hope to be able to clearance it enough to mount the new one slight lower so the cap will clear the hood. I will also need to fit the trans cooler in. I will include pics of the progress in a link to my photo bucket page.

This is for my 62 Valiant. I find it interesting that my factory shop manual shows two sets of information. One for Plymouth and one for Valiant. The Valiant seems less substantial and more basic that the Plymouth. I wonder if this reflects the history of the Valiant being a separate mark.

No, it's because the service procedures for the Plymouth (Savoy, Belvedere, Fury) are often different from the service procedures for the Valiant.

Dan, the physical configuration of the frame and front end are different as well, including the suspension.

There is no frame on '62 Plymouths or Valiants.

But yes, the physical configuration of most of the car is different. Which is why the service procedures are different. Which is why there are two sets of information in the service manual.

As for why the Valiant seems less substantial and more basic: that's because the Valiant was a smaller, lighter, less expensive car with less powerful engine options.

took a pressure washer to the engine bay. Still looks ugly but now I can see a bit better. Alittle upset with the PO as he evidently didn't pay much attention when taking it apart as two or the triangle manifold washers ended up on the ground.

I need to lay everything out to see what I might be missing.
Forgot pics. Next time.

Modified the area where the old radiator was,
straightened out the lower U section under the radiator that was bent causing it to hold the radiator too high. (That is what bent and ruined the old one) also trimmed an edge at the top that caused the upper tank to stick out.

here's the link to the picks.

Got one other bonus- when I ordered the radiator, I couldn't find the one with the trans cooler so I ordered the one with out. The one that came has the cooler on it.

I have a simple solution to mount the radiator with the original bolts and some angles.
