I went to install the main bearings and crank today and found that the #3 bearing won't fit. The width of the main cap is 1 1/8" while the inside width of the bearing is only 7/8". The other three bearings (non thrust) fit fine. Could this bearing set be for a later cast crank block or something? Has anyone else run into this? Thanks.
Rob

I ran into this before, but not on a Slant. It was on an Iron Duke 2.5L 4cyl out of a Citation. Turns out I had selected a crank out of a pile of parts at high school that had a much larger crank journal diameter than my block allowed for. Weird.

My guess is your #3 bearing was packaged incorrectly. You can probably return it for the correct one.

Sounds like you have the cast crank thrust bearing.
You might want to check the other 3 bearings too, the narrow cast crank bearings may fit but are not as wide as the forged crank bearings.

They were indeed for the cast crank engine. They swapped me for the right ones this morning.

The kids and I will start bolting this thing together tonight.

Do you mean all 4 bearings were for the cast crank enigne as I suspected?
