I have an extrusion die designed and ready to make some rockers with, but I just haven't seen there to be enough support or interest to justify the cost of doing it.

Shoot, I would be alright with some stamped rollers just to bring costs down. I know it is Apple's to oranges, but Jegs sell chebby roller rockers for $94 for 16. We pay almost that for one (not stamped, but you get the point) if a set was available for 500 or so I could see it selling like hotcakes, but I could be wrong...

Yeah, but no stamped steel roller rocker is available for the Slants though. It keeps going back to demand and supporting the vendor that is making it happen. I could do the aluminum roller rockers for under $4-$500 a set, but there isn't enough interest in them it seems.

The tooling to do stamping is cost prohibitive. If there isn't enough demand to justify CNC billet rockers there would certainly never be enough demand to offset the cost of developing stamping dies. If your could sell the volume, stamping becomes a lot cheaper but there is a much larger investment up front.

To have the extrusion die made isn't prohibitive, it's around 2 grand, but you get a 20' stick of material as a first article product to sample the shape to make sure it meets the blueprint specs for dimensions you supplied them. So with that 20' of material, you can make quite a few sets of rockers with that. But you still have to outsource the adjusters and pushrod cups and the roller wheels and axles, and then bushings for the rocker shaft. Yes, the stamping dies are much more costly on the front end to develop, making the ROI too time consuming.

If someone does not make sample parts or gather support, how do they know if there is enough demand? What would constitute sufficient demand?

They could begin by showing interest in things that have already been brought to the table for starters. People that have purchased these items say they will promote them and brag on them but never do, so know one ever gets to know these things exist. Also, when samples are shown to a room full of racers and someone brings an aluminum race head to promote what can happen for the slant crowd, i'd expect at least a few people to put their potato chips and meatballs down long enough to at least look at and ask questions. So having already done this on several occasions Lou, what does it take to get interest from the slant guys?

Well, it took Jim Cox 10 years to sell 25 sets. Not exactly a fast mover. However, he did kind of drop off the map for awhile, that could have been part of it.

Sad reality is that most Slant guys won't/can't pay the price for having special parts made. Roller rockers are currently available but as you can see in this thread people think they are too expensive.

I have 2 sets myself. 1 Goodman and 1 Cox/RAS. I've gone pretty fast with the RAS rockers on my motor, but I have gone just as fast with a set of stock rockers. I feel that until you get to higher spring pressures where you will break stock rockers they are a waste of money.
