After looking at air flow calculations given on one of the turbo sites ( http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/turbo/airfilter.html ) I realized that my puny air filter was really too small. I found a K&N cone filter at a swap meet and for another $10 made this "Cold Air Chamber" for it. http://hometown.aol.com/bbobbias/page3.html Some things just work out good!!

Nice design! That looks a lot like the stock air intake on my 82 D150 w/BBD, except the front end in my grill is rectangular and my filter is up on the carb (prolly so it also filters the air from the manifold heat riser stove on cold starts.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Al, I used your "get rid of one side of the V" idea for this grill badge.

Sweet badge, Bob! Where did you get the donor from?

Roger,
Believe it or not I got the badges from K-Mart about 20 years ago. They are stainless steel and were made to commemorate the 1984 LA summer olympics. After the olympics were over they were on "clearance" for $1 each. I just painted the center over and added my own trim from the junk yard. I've since seen them at more recent swap meets. If I do again perhaps I'll get one for you. This link shows both badges on my grill.

The one on the left is the hood ornament off of a '68 Barracuda. Mine's a '69 and didn't have this ornament.

Hey Bob.

When you added the turbo did you have to use higher octane gas of can you still run 87 octane unleaded regular? Thanx. RMDV

It's probably overkill but I use Sunoco Ultra 93 octane unleaded just to be on the safe side. I'm not sure what I could get away with at 8 lbs of boost.
