I'm gathering the bits to install a b&t 833 in my 66 Dart wagon and I'm curious if the shifter from a 1980 D100 will work. I know the shift rods are different lengths and the shift lever is different, but is the shifter itself compatible with a body b&t 833?

Yes, the shifter itself will work fine.

There are some variations in the Comp Plus for different applications, but generally the Comp Plus only adds the stop bolts to a rigid-handle-mount shifter. The regular Hurst shifter with an isolated handle is what we got with the A833OD and most A833s.

Thanks for the confirmation. Got the shifter and the rods too just for kicks. Now I need a bellhousing.
The tranny is still in the truck and priced at $99+$30 core at the pick-n-pull Oakland if anyones interested.

Why didn't you pull the bellhousing if you need one? Did you reply to my Craigslist ad for the bellhousing I'm selling? It's the same as in that pickup.

Sadly, the bellhousing was gone. I think I did reply to you CL ad. Vancouver? I or a friend can pick it up Nov 11th-13th. We're each driving opposite directions between Seattle-Oakland. Money talks, BS walks- I hope you still have it then.

Thanks for the bellhousing, Josh. It cleaned up nicely. I'm making a ring for the input shaft bearing retainer, and shift rods coming in the mail. The whisky plank I'm lacking is the shifter-to-trans mounting plate. can anyone tell me if this one is correct for B&T 833 in a 66 Dart w/ buckets?

The shifter mounting plate need to match the rods and stick you have.
Hurst made a lot of different plates and they all position the shifter at different angles.

What year / model vehicle are the shift rods from?

My notes show a 64 - 66 rods used a Hurst # 6348 plate for bucket seat A-Body vehicles.
The 67 - 76 used a 6350 plate... that one angles the stick forward and therefore, makes the rods a little longer.
(Look at where the lower threaded hole is on the plate, compared to the counter-sunk hole next to it)

I think there were other different different numbered plates, for bench vs bucket seat vehicles...

Thanks, DD. I got the 2298 plate and an assortment of rods. Unfortunately, the only correct rod was 3/4. So, the hunt continues for correct rods.
