I could use some guidance. I cannot locate a diaphram clutch for my slant 6. Would someone tell me where I could locate a reasonably priced clutch for a daily driver.
I am changing over from an automatic to standard transmission. I purchased a clutch pedal assembly and being new to the process, didn't know that the over center spring and the pin to hook the spring to were missing. I also read on this forum that with a diaphram clutch the spring is not necessary. So, as I need a clutch anyway, I thought the the diaphram would be the way to go. But, at this point, I cannot find one.

There aren't any that just bolt in. (that I have found yet) so you do have to machine the flywheel.

Everything I ended up using for my setup except for the pressure plate and mounting bolts is a full borg and beck 10" clutch kit. (for my trans that is with the mopar 1" 23 spline input shaft)
The stock application for the pressure plate and mounting bolts is the 1999 ford explorer 4WD with the 4.0L motor.
You will need to space the pivot for the throw out arm forward 3/8 of an inch or so as discussed in the second link.

Clutchnet supposedly has them. I believe Ron Heath used their Clutch in his race car, but he had the V-8 version. This listing is for the early 273 which should have the same bolt pattern as the Slant 6. Just be sure and ask.

Yes, you should remove the over center spring or the pedal can stick on the floor at high RPM and not allow you to re-engage the clutch.

Spec Clutch had the only ones that would bolt onto a stock flywheel and didn't need a special bellhousing or adaptor ...but... the quality control was much less than desired...they probably would be fine for a daily driver...but they never stand up to a Hi-Po engine build that I have seen yet (yes I withered 2 of these out...)
