I will guess that it will allow the use of a late A body pan.
Correct. Where the original K frame swings around the front of the pan, I had it notched back and then re-inforced it with 1/4" plate. This along with the V-8 centerlink should allow me to use the later oil pans . Early pans are getting harder to find cheap. This way I can modify one of the later pans that I have to hold a little bit more oil.

Ron I think the only thing that needs to be changed is the centerlink. I do not think they are available in the aftermarket. I got mine up at Carlise in 2014. Guy was asking $60 for it (good price),but I got it for $40. (Better price)

As for the trophy, I am pretty sure that that would be a long shot of epic proportions! But I will do my best, not to red light!

I would really like to make it to Clay city as well, even if I have to drive the truck. Especially if Ryan gets to come with Seymour's car.

Spoke to the Engine shop today and they have ordered all the bearings for both mine and Ryan's new engines. Mine is ready for final assembly and as soon as they finish up a few more dirt track engines mine will go together. He said probably in 2 weeks. I am going to go up and help them when they put it together! (Probably more watching than anything) Making some progress.

They are now from Firm Feel (I think). Something like $250 - Yowser!

That is out of my price range for a center link!

That's more than I'd give if it had the early A body attached to it.

I got a new mini alternator for my car and here are a few pics of the install.
First I took a piece of heavy duty Aluminum channel and cut it down and bolted it to the block. It needed to be as far forward as it it could be to get the pulley to line up, so I used a Allen head bolt in the back hole.

A little bit of the blue anodized paint

Mounted to the engine and everthing lines up

Small block chevy upper bracket cut down a bit and the the install is complete. The alternator is about 1" from the front header tube, but after running it for 20 minutes it was still just warm to the touch.

I also took the rocker assembly and the 3/8" Smith Brothers push rods out of my engine and dropped them off at Kriner's Racing Engines to go in my new engine. I installed another set of rockers and a set of Comp Cams chromoly push rods I had on the shelf back into the engine. I ran the valves cold (.002 loose) and fired it up and left it run for about 20 minutes. Everything looked good and I didn't have any leaks. I will run it up to temperature another time and then run the valves hot and I should be ready to race.

If you could have found an A100 driver's side bracket/adjusting strap, would that have worked?

I ran the car at Mason Dixon and it ran well all weekend except the dreaded flutter came back. Intermittently, which makes it bad. Pretty sure it is a carb issue when the secondaries open. Because I unhooked the secondaries again and it ran 6 or 7 runs perfectly fine. Actually with no other changes it ran its best ever in this configurations of a 15.09 @ 88. I immediately noticed that when I was running just the 2 barrels the A/F gauge was rock steady the whole way down the track. It was reading 11.7-11.8. So even with just the 2 barrel it is too rich. Sooo, professor Lou said to adjust the primaries to get to 12.5 first, then play with a smaller secondary jet. Made sense to me!

Always something to do.

Knee surgery tomorrow for one thing!

Rick

Good luck with the surgery, and I very much hope that clears up some pain for you, Rick. I wonder if the secondaries are rich enough to give you some misfire, which makes the AF look leaner than it actually is.

Slant on,
Lou
