I am currently in the process of tuning my Weber 32/36 DGEV. This is the first time for me changing jets and such on a carb. I've been just enjoying myself learning by trial and error. :wink:

I'm slightly confused as to what role the air correctors(that's what Weber calls them) play in tuning the carb. Also, can anyone explain to me in layman's terms what the function of the air corrector is. :?

Does it have anything to do with atomizing the fuel? :oops:

It is my understanding that the air corrector jets come into play at higher engine speeds and control the amount of air mixed with the fuel (in the emulsioning tubes--I THINK...better get my Haynes Weber manual out again). Most of the information I have read says to start at a 200 air corrector and go from there. I've also read that adding 50 or 60 to the main jet size to get a starting air corrector size is the way to do it.

I'm still looking for a good book on tuning these things myself, so don't take anything I say as the way to do it. Chris at Prolinefuel can help, too. He's done a lot of testing of Weber carbs on slants.

The air correctors really arent going to make alot of noticable difference except at high rpms and even then unless you are using a dyno. as long as your air correctors are between 160 and 200 I wouldnt sweat it much.

One thing about the 32/36 is the idle jets are an important factor.

On the kits I sell the idles are usually at 50's or 60's/ the mains anywhere from 160 - 190 (depending on the motor) and the air correctors 170's- 180's.

It is a weird science on how the air correctors and tubes work as there are certain combos for torque and others for high end---Weber has it all charted out and its a little confusing to read. I do have tuning manuals if anyone needs one- they deal with theory and stuff, mostly with IDF/IDA's and Sidedrafts tho'

You're right about the idle jets on the 32/36. Any changes I make with them really show up not just at idle, but also throughout the throttle range. :!:

Thanks a lot for the info on the air correctors. :) I'll not worry too much about them for now. I'm not really running at high rpms too much, this is for my daily driver.
