Does anyone have the measurement for where the shifter is located in the car in relation to the firewall or bellhousing face? How far away is it?

Thanks,

Casey

I'm looking for the info for a transmission swap other than a stock 4 speed. I'm guessing that piece just nests into the contours of the floor for location rather than placing it a certain distance from the firewall.

Any 4 speed A body owners out there who could take a quick measurement?

I measured 19 inches from the bell housing/transmission interface to the center locating bolt for the hurst shifter. This is on a a833 od a/f trans.
Hope this is of some help.

Thanks! So that is basically to the base of the shift lever where it comes through the floor?

Yes, When the transmission is in neutral the shift lever is in the vertical position coming thru the floor. The bolt I spoke of is directly below the lever.
Also measured a stock 3 speed with floor shift, same thing 19 "

Thanks. That helps me confirm what I need for my 6 speed conversion.
