Hello brothers in slant. I am deep in the swap from 1bbl to the Super Six on my 66 dart. I have recently begun a real rough idle when I first start it up. Lasts for 5 - 8 minutes until it is warm, and ultimate;y goes away. It is not cold here, so that is not the issue. And I drive it every day, so it is not sitting.

However this only started happening after I cut off the EGR ufo disk. . What I did was removed it, cut off the disk, and cut the little plunger stem (which is now loose and just sitting there). Then I flipped the whole thing 180 degrees and reinstalled it. Can that have anything to do with a rough cold idle? Note I did not remove the entire EGR bracket, I cut it off and left the plate that covers the exhaust holes (I assume)
tThe only other thing I did recent was tried to adjust the fuel mix at the carb. it is the carter bbd. I turned both screws all the way in (lightly), then back them both out 2 1/4 turns, then started it up, got it hot, then starting turning both in at the same time till it dropped, then backed it out about 1/2 turn. I tried to back them out until I heard something, but nothing ever changed and I thought the screws were about to fall out. So I redid the first bit again. Any ideas?

If you cut the pod off the EGR you likely cut the sring out that holds the plunger closed. Remove the EGR leftovers completely and just bolt on a flat piece of metal.

yea that little stem is just loose goes in and out. Maybe I can put some epoxy on it to keep it closed? though I dont really feel any exhaust coming out from that plunger

Ugh. You did it wrong once already with a chopsaw. Now you propose to do it wrong again with epoxy. You're on the wrong track, dude.

Job worth doing = job worth doing right. You no longer have the opportunity to simply flip the (intact) EGR valve 180° and reinstall it, so now it's gonna be a blockoff plate or another (unchopped) EGR valve installed upside down.

I thought I hit a triple, but instead I struck out :).

BTW, I called Chrysler/Dodge dealer part dept, gave them 3671447, and they said it is no longer avail.

Yea I saw that eBay. But on principle I refuse to pay $9 to ship a chunk of steel. So luckily I had an L bracket, cut it down and the mounting holes just about lined up, after I enlarged them a bit. So I am good now. I hit a single. There must be someway for me to reuse the old EGR plate. Like cut everything off it, then fill the void with melted lead? then paint it red?

…which will harden after you pour it, then re-melt the first time the engine warms up.

There are lots of ways to reuse the old EGR plate, just not as a blockoff plate for the EGR holes in the manifolds.
