I want to change over my 62 lancer 170 original 3 speed to a A 833 OD trans....does it take a different FLYWHEEL??? I realize it takes the 5.125 bellhousing.. how about different z bar, clutch linkage etc>>>>>.???? thanks..

The only difference in the flywheel is the crank centering hole... but as long as your lancer didn't come with the direct drive starter, you can use the 1962 flywheel instead...

All the other parts were meant to fit a 1967-1976 A body or 1976-1980 F body... so in the earlier cars you will need to test fit and may need to make an offset bracket or two to get your rod/linkage alignment correct....

(i.e mount the bell and transmission, get it set at the tailshaft crossmember then see what will bolt in and if it's straight....this will also help you spot for the floor hump as well, and deal with that linkage and shifter)...

Most 62 linkage parts will work with a later Pass car bellhousing with the big hole and the 4 speed pattern. You need the inside bracket for the Z bar that came with those bellhousings. Truck bellhousings which are easier to find present some additional issues. Your 62 Z bar might be a little too long but it can be trimmed down to fit.

thanks for the info, BUT are the flywheels the same for that A 833 OD and the flywheel that is on the lancer with that 3 speed???

They are the same size and can use the same clutch, so if converting to the OD you can keep your flywheel. You can't go the other way without a bushing to center the flywheel.properly.

thanks for the info. I knew the center register would be an issue I I changed out to later slant, just ha d no idea about the dia and teeth part!
