this is a concept i thought up because i love my dart but i need a truck. this is a pic i pulled off the web a while back and it looks like mine with a new paint job. i was wondering what you guys think and please give me sugestions on how i can make this better

I always thought the late '60s Fury III station wagons would look cool if they were " el caminoized".

Buy an old Dodge Rampage... you know one of those FWD units.
Add a 2.2 Turbo motor to it, do some backyard voodoo tuning.
Haul parts and annihilate 5.0's at will...
Sit back and smile knowing all is well with the world.

Better yet, buy an aussie "ute" and do a LHD conversion.

"Utes" or el caminos as we call them, are current production in Australia. For some reason no one is selling them in north America, save the Subaru. Can't remember the model name, only that I was disappointed the marketing execs didn't have the balls to call it the "Brat" after its predecessor. Perhaps we might see more of these if the Subaru sells well. Personally IMO, any new fad is better than the ultra-offensive SUV.

Check the Holden website, they have a pretty wild-looking Ute in their current lineup. I can't remember what the old Chrysler ute looked like, but it should turn heads over here.

was gonna do something like that with my 74 rusty valiant, but decided had to many other projects, if anyone wants to try this i got a partially gutted 74 valiant and a decent 73 dart with no title, i dont think anyone would feel real bad about cutting either of them up, not sure how hard it is to get a new title for the 73, the 74 would need serious work if someone were to put it on the road, in fact, probaly not possible if your state has safety inspections....lol...the early 60s aussie valiant utes are pretty cool...

How about an A100? They're basically Dart trucks, anyway.

the rampage seems to be in the same catagory as the subaru brat. i dont know wether i will ever be able to do this because of school but it is a project that might turn heads. the utes are cool but i dont really care to go through the hassle of getting the vehicle in to the country

And that is exactly why you don't see these around!
The Utes are great, I lived in Australia from '98 - '99 so I "experienced" them myself. They also have some great panelvans over there, I used to want one of those. I used to want a lot, still do,..
I think if you are ready for a great car, and have saved up a bit you might consider it. I really don't think it is thát expensive.

I wanted to ship my car to The Netherlands and asked around, can't remember what it was going to cost but if it was a lot I might have remembered

Too cool Personally I would square off the rear of the cab for additional head room. what a job that would be. I've thought about a conversion using a 63/64 Dart as the starting point using the original back plug and window, but at a less severe angle then stock. Btw discovered by accident that my 89 Nissan bed is the same width as the GT, Hum???

actually I was more impressed by the push bar in the front. Nice and menacing.

Wayne Maddox, outside Denver, has five Australian Valiant Utes on the way to his shop. Two (I think) are already spoken for, the others are for sale. A left-hand-drive conversion is not necessary; RHD vehicles are perfectly legal in North America.
