I just purchased a 63 Dart 170 4dr with a 170 and 3spd on the column for my wife 8) and was wondering if the 170 would respond to the super six and dutra duals.Im planning on the usual upgrades(elec.ign.,10 inch front drums and dual master, KYBshocks, and front sway bar.)and was wanting just a little more pep as my wife is used to driving a 318 73 Satellite sebring. The engine in this car is un real,it hadnt been started in 10 months because the previous owner had installed a new carb and couldnt get it to run(this guy was an old hippie-but an extremeley skilled mason ,woodworker, and stained glass artist, but mechanicaly inept but a hellava nice guy).It seems that he had the return spring on the carb on the wrong side and the carb was wide open sitting still.I fixed that ,verified oil pressure, filled the carb with fresh gas and after about 6 revolutions on the engine it roared to life and settled into a smooth idle.It has a avrg.comp of 145 on all cylinders and one of the smoothest 3 spd shifters I have ever seen and is even a radio delete car that still has the plate and never a wire under the dash has been cut. The floors are toast but the body ,frame rails, and trunk are solid as can be. Anyways do you think my minor mods will work well on the 170???
Thanks in advance

Sure will. Go for it. Might want to think about milling the head for a overall gain of about .050, after figuring head gasket thickness differences.

If you don't mind reving the engine up into the RPMs, a little more cam will do a lot for a 170.
Combined with a 4-speed conversion, that would be a fun little combo.
