Do you guys think this works? Wont there be a bigger gap arounf the front and rear oil-pan gaskets?

Anyone use this?

Well... I am thinking that the scraper plate is sandwiched all the way around the pan, or mabye it has a metal "gasket" to fill the void where needed... It looks like it would do as advertised...but I wonder if Chrysler designed it to fling the oil around like that to better lubricate the bottom end.... If you change that you might find bearings failing more often. The \6 is not known for having great stock power... but it is known for its bulletproof reliablilty.... I once owned a 73 Duster with 440K on it... Ran perfectly every time... cold or hot... (of course you could see the road under your feet from the driver seat... some nice holes in the floorboard.. and some other places too.)

It would be fairly easy to build one of these yourself... Just take off the pan and cut some sheet too fit.

Ken

I think it would work well with a windage tray too.

I like how the builders recognizes the board members here who helped him with the project. :D :D :D

I think I'm gonna get me one.

Honestly I had nothing to do with it. I remember when the gentleman posted here looking for help.

If I had to choose between a scraper or a tray, I'd take a scraper.

He is also making header flanges for the slant, at a very reasonable price. That is great for those of us that need custom headers or turbo manifolds.
I have a set of flanges, and one crank scraper. Will be getting another scraper, this week.

We are going for the b gas record but i can not think of a car besides mine we race that is in b gas can you. Thanks your rebel buddy Possum

Could someone explain why you think a slant six needs a crank scraper?
Or for that matter why any motor needs one?

It wipes the oil off the crank, thus reducing some drag and some parasitic weight of the excess (not useable oil, just dead weight), this help make more power at the top end (and maybe the mid range, but I don't have any info on that). Mostly this is a nice item to have along with a windage tray(keeps the crank from 'frothing/whipping the oil in the pan) for those of us who also drive our mills in the 'race/power' rpm range with non-stock engines....

If you drive a stock bottom end with a super six, you won't see much benefit of this item, but if you have a hotter cam and a set of 3.91's it'd be nice to have one.

No, my car is too heavy, and they made the rule this year that your car has to make weight for the class. No heavy cars in lighter classes. I was gonna try and take the B/GN record away from Doug with a street car too.

Kevin,

You might consider posting your link here again. I'm considering getting one.

The link to his web sire is, http://www.crank-scrapers.com/

Kevin also has slant six header flanges available for a very reasonable price. If you need to make custom headers, this is a good starting place.
