Is there an easy way to do this? I want to get behind the dash to re-do the wiring. MS is going in soon, along with a new fuse box and many a relay. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are trying to remove the entire dash you need to take out the windshield on an A body. I just pulled one from a 74 Valiant to go into my 70 Valiant, thats how I know.

Damn. Any easy way to clear out most of the crap from under the dash? I want to be able to get to those firewall connections from the backside.

when you disconnect the 3 connectors from under the hood you just squeeze the clips and it just pushes into the passenger compartment.

70 valiant has you hooked up, some other things you can do to get behind there and make things a bit easier are:
Remove the instrumnet cluster, remove the heaterbox, and remove the glove box....

all in all they're all equally a pain.

Instrument cluster is dead. Busted that out of there a while ago. May rig the speedo back in there somehow. I'll try taking the glovebox out too. I just need to get some room to work in there. There really aren't that many wires in the car

If you need a cluster I have the one out of the 74 I can check and make sure everything works and make you a good deal.

The only gauge I need from it is speedo. The rest will be upgraded.

You can get to 90% of the wires by taking out the dash cluster. I got rid of the wiring harness on the firewall(actually, I still have three wires to remove before it's fully gone). You might consider replacing the speedo(not the bikini kind of course  ), since from what you said you're going aftermarket anyway. Also might consider sticking in a tach(since I'm guessing MS=MSD and you'll have a tach output). Also, if you have a dashpad taking it out will help to move the wiring, it helps out if you change the wiring significantly. There's a little beehive of wiring right above the cluster that I reduced the size by about half by re-routing wires, it would have been much harder to do if the dashpad would have been in. If you choose taking out the windshield be ready for a load more spending, it'll temp you to replace the windshield gasket which cost a lot, and obviousely you'll need the sealants. This wiring is so simple though I think that a complete overhaul on the wiring could be fairly easily done(you know, as far as the ease of re-wiring a car can be considered easy  ). The only compromise I could imagine would be quality of connections, getting a sauter gone in some parts of the dash would be a b**ch.

Removing the front seat is the best thing to do. It is amazing how much easier it is to work up under the dash when your not a pretzel.
