I have the opportunity to pick up a cheap Swinger for various parts for my 66 Dart. Does anyone know if the swinger came w/ an 8 1/4 or 7 1/4? Both? The guy who owns the car is no help as he didn't even know what the differential was and he's a bit of a ways away so I can't just look myself.

The 8 1/4" rear is for heavy duty use...from 1973-1976 you can have 10" front drums or disc brakes and still get a 7 1/4" rear end with 10" drums.... only under certain circumstances can you get the 8 1/4"....the easiest way to tell is get it home jack it up and look for the round rear plate with 10 bolts holding it to the housing...otherwise you have a good candidate to help with your big bolt pattern swap until you find a good 8 1/4" or 8 3/4" rear for your car...
